Growing beautiful orchids is relatively easy, but they do prefer a special type of potting mix that is very free draining. Yates Thrive Orchid Potting Mix has been developed especially for orchids - including phalaenopsis (moth orchids) and cymbidium orchids.
HOW TO USE
1. Water the orchid thoroughly before repotting and leave to drain.
2. Select a pot with good drainage holes, only slightly larger than the current pot.
3. Partly fill the new pot with Yates Thrive Orchid Potting Mix.
4. Invert the pot and gently tap the orchid out. Remove any dead or damaged roots.
5. Place the orchid in the new pot, add more of the mix around the plant and gently pat down. Do not plant the orchid deeper than the original bark level.
6. Water thoroughly with Yates Thrive Natural Seaweed and allow to drain.
GENERAL PLANT CARE
Position: Indoor potted orchids prefer a high light area, but not direct sunlight. They should also be protected from extremes of hot and cold.
Watering: Most orchids need the potting mix to dry out between waterings. So it pays to check moisture levels by inserting your finger into the top few centimetres of the mix.
Feeding: After 3-4 months from re-potting feed fortnightly with Yates Thrive Orchid Liquid Plant Food or Yates Thrive Indoor Orchids Liquid Plant Food Drippers (if you're prone to forgetting, as these feed for 4 weeks)
