Reports are coming in, of sightings of strange, unidentified objects in gardens all over New Zealand! These tasty alien critters are shaped just like UFOs, in funky bright colours. And, unlike real aliens, you can eat them! If you'd like to encounter some delicious extraterrestrials, sow these cute little flying saucers at your place.
For early sowing, raise in pots of Yates Black Magic Seed Raising Mix in a well-lit, protected spot. Transplant after 3-4 weeks. For direct sowing press 3-4 seeds into mounds of moist soil 70cm apart. Later thin to the two strongest plants. Alternatively, sow direct into 40cm pots.
Select a sunny, well-drained position. Add compost and Yates Thrive Natural Blood & Bone before sowing. Keep well watered at base of plant. Pick fruit when small for best yield and flavour.
For a heavier crop, brush pollen from male flowers onto female flowers (with swollen base). Keep well mulched.
Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
