To celebrate our 140th year in the seed business, we're excited to bring back some old, old favourites from our archives!
Purple Savoy is an heirloom variety, cultivated in England since the 1800s. These visually stunning cabbages have large crisp heads of lightly crinkled green and purple outer leaves. Deliciously tender and sweet, ideal sauteed, stuffed or enjoy raw in coleslaw. Stores well.
Sow seed into trays of Yates Black Magic® Seed Raising Mix. Firm down and keep moist. Transplant seedlings when about 7 cm high.
Choose a sunny, well-drained position. Prior to planting work in Yates Thrive® Natural Blood & Bone. Once seedlings have established, feed with Yates Thrive® Natural Fish Seaweed + Plant Food for strong, lush plant growth. Protect from snails and slugs.
Cool evening temperatures enhance the purple colour. Plant brassica vegetables in a different position each year to avoid soil-borne diseases.
Store in a cool dry place away from direct Sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
