Bulls Blood is an heirloom variety with intense burgundy hued leaves. Tasty baby leaves add delightful colour to a salad, and can be steamed just like spinach. Sliced roots display subtle candy-pink rings, and have a delicious sweetly earthy flavor. Great for harvesting as baby beets, or let them grow and enjoy slow-roasted, steamed or pickled.
Each "seed" is a cluster of 1-4 true seeds in a corky outer coating. Soak for two hours before sowing to ensure water penetrates to seeds. Sow direct where they are to grow or in trays of Yates® Black Magic® Seed Raising Mix. When 3-5cm tall, separate clustered seedlings and transplant.
Grow in a sunny well-drained position. Apply Yates® Thrive® Fish Blood & Bone Plant Food regularly and keep seedlings well watered. Make successive sowings every few weeks. Protect from snails and slugs..
Pick young leaves and add to salad mixes.
Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
