Reliably produces a heavy crop of long, well-filled pods in a wide range of conditions. Delicate, buttery, nutty tasting broad beans make an amazing hearty addition to hot dishes - delicious sautéed, steamed or roasted. Young pods can be sliced, steamed and eaten as a green vegetable. A great match with bacon, or fresh mint.
Sow directly into well drained soil previously prepared with Yates Thrive All Purpose Fertiliser. Working in Yates Hauraki Gold Peat before sowing will improve drainage. For extended harvest, sow every 5-6 weeks during season.
Plants need support - stretch lengths of twine down each side of the row and attach to 1 metre stakes at 20cm intervals, Protect your seedlings from slugs and snails with Yates Blitzem. Protect against Rust and Chocolate Spot with Yates Liquid Copper Fungicide. Early plantings may suffer flower-drop, this will decrease as temperatures warm.
Great companion plant for cabbage, cauliflower, lettuce, potatoes & spinach. Avoid overwatering - seeds may rot before germination if soil is too wet.
Store in a cool dry place away from direct Sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
