Easy to grow and packed with flavour, jalapeños are moderately spiced which makes them so versatile across a range of cuisines.
Perfect for Mexican dishes or add to burgers or pizza for some added heat. Got surplus jalapeños? Simply pickle or freeze, so you always have some on hand when you need them.
Sow direct in warm conditions or raise in trays of Yates Black Magic Seed Raising Mix. Firm down and keep moist. Transplant when 6cm high. Early sowings should be protected or started indoors, as warmth is needed for germination.
Choose a well-drained, sunny position. Prior to planting mix Yates Thrive Natural Blood & Bone into the soil. Feed plants regularly with Yates Thrive All Purpose Granular Plant Food. Frequent picking encourages new fruit. Begin picking when green or, for hotter taste, harvest when red. Protect from snails and slugs.
Great companion plant for basil, marjoram and parsley. Handle with care. After handling seed or fruit, wash hands well to avoid irritating skin or eyes.
