Sticcoli produces lots of slender, elegant stems, with small florets. Stems are extra-sweet and tender, and don't need to be peeled. This chef's favourite, previously only found in supermarkets, is actually a clever hybrid of standard broccoli and Gai Lan (Chinese broccoli).

How
Sow into trays of Yates Black Magic Seed Raising Mix. Firm down and keep moist. Transplant when about 7cm high.
Care
Choose a Sunny, well-drained position. Plant in a different garden bed each year to avoid soil-borne diseases. Dig in Yates Thrive Natural Blood & Bone before planting. Protect from snails and slugs. Control leaf-eating caterpillars with Yates Success Ultra.
Hint
Pinch out the first head to encourage lots of side shoots. The long stems are just as tasty as the florets.
