Since we moved to our new house in March we have had no homegrown carrots and oh how I have missed being able to walk out to the garden and pull a fresh carrots.
So today when I pulled my first carrot and it was a beauty I couldn't have been happier. I have already planted a second crop so hopefully I won't be without carrots for the next year.
Carrots are such an easy crop to grow. I sprinkle the seeds on top of the soil and water them in. Then place sacking on top and put wooden boards on top of the sack and wait for 7-10 days. I then check if the seeds have sprouted and if they have I uncover the carrots and let them grow.
This stops the seeds from drying out and anything digging up the soil resulting in really good germination.
