I remembered this afternoon that James had mentioned my sweet peas a wee while ago, so James this photo is for you.
Unfortunately I have just picked three big bunches (the more you pick, the more flowers you get) so they are not at their most spectacular today. However even with the few blooms you can see, the fragrance is amazing - sweet peas are the gift that keep on giving.
Last year I chose to just sow white sweet peas and, while they were lovely, I do prefer the variety of colours and I think the fragrance is more intense. These will last a few more weeks and then will start to die off from the bottom up. Like so many gorgeous plants they are only fleeting - but I believe they are worth it.
