Never thought I'd grow em

I never thought I'd grow em...

As a boy they made me irate.

For we could never leave the table,

Till there was nothing on the plate.

My parents boiled them in a pot,

Gave me a plate with them laid on it.

I'd peg my nose, use heaps of sauce

In order not to vomit!

But now I know, it was how they were cooked..

The veges are not to blame.

Fried with bacon and a little butter,

The do not taste the same.

Haven loves them, can't get enough,

For her they are a winner.

She's even asked if we can have...

Some for her birthday dinner.

It's exciting now to see them form,

I must admit I had my doubts.

Won't be long till the harvest is ready,

And we are eating fresh brussel sprouts!
