My season of very busy is almost over. Just one more day of ‘madness’ and I can get back to something that feels remotely like normal.
Over the weekend we had the Garden Ramble to raise money for the Surf Club. At this point we’re not sure how much we raised but every little bit helps, and they should be starting on the new building in the new year. I had just over 300 people through my garden, which was pretty impressive, considering we were probably the furthest out of town of all the 21 gardens.
Today and tomorrow the organisers have put on a mini ramble for the garden owners, and we all got together to visit all of the gardens. Today we did 10! And tomorrow we’ll do 11, ending up in my garden last of all. It has been so nice to meet the other gardeners and see what they have created. Every single one was different and amazing. And of course, gardeners are the nicest people.
But back to the Vegie Growing Challenge – we only have two weeks left for the official challenge part of the community. The last day to be considered for the prizes is Friday the 8th. But you are all welcome to continue posting updates after this time and it was lovely last year to see everyone continuing to post and chat all year round, because of course, gardens don’t stop growing after this date. If you haven’t already, take a moment to remind yourself what prizes are up for grabs.
I remember when I entered as just an ordinary gardener, it was such a friendly place that by this stage I was busy making friends and chatting about the garden that I almost forgot it was a competition! I hope you are all enjoying this virtual garden space, although the prizes are pretty awesome too.
Speaking of prizes– this week’s lucky random winner of the weekly free packet of seeds is Edna. The seeds will be on their way to you very soon.
Keep posting your wonderful updates to increase your chances of being next week’s winner!
I hope you all have a fabulous week in the garden and as always – if you want to get in touch leave a comment below.
