SH and I are about to head off for a few days to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary. It has got me reminiscing about our 32 years of marriage.
When we first became an item SH had no interest in gardening, lawns, vegetables or in fact anything green! I, on the other hand, had the heritage of a gardening family - parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents who all loved to grow flowers and vegetables. SH saw gardening as something that took my attention away from him and to start with he wasn't overly impressed!
However over the past 32 years he has changed - big time! He is so passionate about our garden. He can name flowers and shrubs and he is almost more enthusiastic about our vegetable garden than I am. He weeds and sprays and builds and mows and trims and our lawns are HIS baby.
I knew 32 years ago that I had found my soulmate and that it was just a matter of time before he saw the joy our garden would bring.
When we bought this property I came up with ideas for the vegie garden and my wonderful man made it happen. The edging, the paths, the arches... all of the structures are thanks to SH along with much of the spadework that goes with (mostly) successfully growing vegetables.
So for the next few days we will be taking some time out from our garden and celebrating the joy we have had from our blended family, our time together and the fun times we have had.
We'll probably check out a couple of gardens while we're away as well!
