How to grow bay trees in a garden

  1. Choose a well drained, full sun position in your garden. Before planting apply Yates Thrive Natural Blood & Bone with Seaweed into the soil and water well.
  2. Plant is mainly propagated by semi hardwood cuttings which are taken at the end of summer. Use a well drained propagation mix.
  3. Plant cuttings out when they have a good root system and plant in a well drained soil. Apply Yates Thrive Natural Blood & Bone with Seaweed to the soil and water well. Plant in the full sun.
  4. Bay trees are slow growing. Prune to keep in shape.
  5. Can harvest leaves at anytime of the year.
  6. Feed in autumn and spring with Yates Thrive Natural Blood & Bone with Seaweed to promote strong root development & healthy foliage.

 

 

How to grow bay trees in a pot

  1. Choose a pot at least 300mm wide and deep. Position in full sun or light shade.
  2. Fill chosen pot with quality potting mix, such as Yates Premium Potting Mix. Remove the shrub from the container, gently tease the roots and cut away any circled or tangled roots.
  3. Position in hole and backfill with potting mix, gently firming down. Water deeply, once or twice a week, depending on weather conditions.
  4. Bay trees are slow growing. Prune to keep in shape. Can harvest leaves at anytime of the year.
