To celebrate our 140th year in the seed business, we're excited to bring back some old, old favourites from our archives!
This heirloom lettuce has a tender texture and a sweet, non-bitter flavour. Its lobed leaves resemble an oak tree and are formed in a loose rosette - perfect for taking as much or as little as you need. Great for wraps, sandwiches and salads. Tolerates heat well and ideal for succession planting.
Sow direct where the plants are to grow or raise in trays of Yates Black Magic® Seed Raising Mix. Firm down and keep moist. Transplant when 3-4 cm high.
Plant in a well-drained, sunny position adding Yates Thrive® Natural Garden Lime and Yates Thrive® Natural Blood & Bone to the soil before planting. Water regularly and feed weekly with Yates Thrive® Natural Fish Seaweed + Plant Food. Make successive sowings every few weeks. Water at base of plant, rather than overhead, to minimise risk of disease. Protect from snails and slugs.
Can pick individual outer leaves or harvest whole. Great to grow with other salad ingredients such as basil, tomatoes, cucumber, parsley, beetroot, radish and carrots.
Store in a cool dry place away from direct Sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
