Well its been a couple of weeks since I took the advice kindly shared by the Growing Community and repotted my very leggy tomato seedlings this time deeply into larger pots up to the first set of leaves.
I am happy to report that we are leggy no more and the tomatoes have shot up and are making me feel rather chuffed that they did not end up in the compost!
Sadly, I can not figure out how to get my collage photo to be in the correct order so please note my AFTER photo is first (on the left) followed by the BEFORE photo. Oh technology, will we ever truly see eye to eye?
On the floor and shelves, there are several vegetables and fruits including a variety of cucumbers, lettuces, and tomatoes as well as zucchini, capsicum, eggplants, avocado, raspberry, watermelon, rock melon, passionfruit, lemon and a large amount of basil. As far as flowers go, we have a range of sunflowers, portulaca’s, zinnia, pansy, marigold, and alyssum.
I plan to sow more trays of vegetables and flowers as space allows and so I must begin to transition my seedlings outside; a nerve-wracking thought as Auckland weather is so unpredictable!
So please wish me luck as I must try planting out this coming weekend before Labour Weekend (crazy I know) as I am due to have hand surgery and will be out of action for several weeks. At least I can pass my recovery time reading all the great blogs here on the Growing Community.
Happy Growing!
